DESCRIPTIVE ENTRY
These records document the efforts of the Development Office to generate
private financial support for Museum exhibitions from 1978 to 1990. Files were
created for each exhibition and contain memoranda concerning possible sources
of support and lists of potential donors; solicitation letters and
correspondence with potential donors; information about corporate donors such
as annual reports; promotional material and press releases for exhibitions;
exhibition proposals and budget requirements; newspaper and magazine clippings
about exhibitions; and funding summaries of donors solicited and their
responses.
Records also consist of files for year-end appeals from 1983
to 1988, which include lists of donors, acknowledgment letters and other
correspondence with donors; files for benefits held from 1982 to 1989 to raise
money for the Museum, consisting mostly of copies of response forms; files
documenting memorial funds established in honor of significant staff members or
figures in design; and correspondence files with donors of $500 or less.
