Transaction Terms
SI Data Content Committe, 1994, Version 1.0
On behalf of the CIS Management Committee, I would like to take this opportunity to express our support for the work of the Data Content Committee. The Data Content Committee is providing an invaluable service to the entire Smithsonian collecting community in working to define and document the Institution's current terminology for collections management.
We commend the Data Content Committee on the production of its first, most welcome, document on transaction terms, and we look forward to the publication of subsequent sections. We believe these products will foster information sharing across bureaus and through all levels within bureaus and may pave the way for a unitary Smithsonian Collections Information System in the future.
