VI. Related Terms

Museums establish internal policies and procedures for maintaining management control of the collections. These policies and procedures govern the five principal types of transactions, the terms for which are the subject of this document. In the process of maintaining management and inventory control there are related terms which describe the status of an object rather than a transaction. Examples of related terms are Accession, Deaccession, Intramural transfer (for NMAH, title does not transfer), Loan cancelled, Loan transferred, Missing, Not found, Removed from the collection, Stolen, and Unlocated.
