We are excited to start the New Year with our first Call for Entries for the click! photography changes everything, an online exhibit that explores how photography influences every aspect of our daily lives. This month’s focus: History in the Making – the perfect opportunity to share your thoughts on the recent U.S. presidential elections and upcoming inauguration.

Has photography changed the way you express your thoughts about democracy and the political process? Do photos like yours spark debate or political dialog? Do your photos reflect current events differently from mainstream media? Will photos like yours become valuable historical artifacts?

Make your photo of the recent U.S. presidential elections and upcoming inauguration become part of History in the Making. Simply submit your photo and accompanying story via the click! website or the SPI Flickr Group. Better yet, if you plan to witness the inauguration in person, join us at the Flickr meet-up in Washington, D.C.

If you don’t have a photo but are interested in participating in the discussion, you can share your thoughts on photos from past inaugurations available in the Smithsonian Commons.

The first ten entries to be featured on the click! website, will receive a copy of the book, At First Sight: Photography and the Smithsonian, an intriguing glimpse into the Smithsonian’s more than seven hundred photographic collections.
